30 Ways to Please God

It’s easy to wonder how to please God. In Micah’s day, the people lamented about their lack of understanding when it came to pleasing God. They believed they could only be pleasing to God by offering some extravagant sacrifice, but pleasing God was a lot simpler (Mic. 6:6-8). Today, we can likewise please God with some basic, simple things which he seeks. Here are 30 biblical ways we can please God.

1. Take care of the needs of widows and orphans (Jas. 1:27)

2. Financially support the work of the church (Phil. 4:18)

3. Present your body as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1)

4. Prioritize the right things in the kingdom of God (Rom. 14:17-18)

5. Help the poor (Ps. 41:1-3)

6. Doing good and practicing benevolence (Heb. 13:16)

7. Walking with God (Gen. 5:24; Heb. 11:5)

8. Believe on Jesus (John 6:28-29)

9. Do everything to the glory of God (1 Cor. 1:31; 10:31)

10. Give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thess. 5:18)

11. Abstain from sexual sin (1Thess. 4:3)

12. Prioritize serving God over pleasing men (Gal. 1:10)

13. Pray for all people everywhere, especially government authorities (1 Tim. 2:1-3)

14. Take care of your parents and grandparents in their time of need (1 Tim. 5:4)

15. Trust in God and seek him diligently (Heb. 11:6)

16. Help others see their need for salvation and introduce them to the truth (1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Pet. 3:9)

17. Live life in the Spirit (Rom. 8:8-9)

18. Bear fruit (John 15:1-8)

19. Love him and keep his commandments which are not burdensome (1 John 5:3)

20. Be diligent to be approved and handle the word of truth properly (2 Tim. 2:15)

21. Fear God (Ps. 25:14)

22. Watch your words and thoughts (Ps. 19:14) 

23. Love genuinely from the heart (Hos. 6:6)

24. Allow God to work in you (Phil. 2:13)

25. Practice righteousness and justice (Prov. 21:3)

26. Hope in God’s steadfast love (Ps. 147:11)

27. Approve of excellent things and be filled with the fruit of righteousness (Phil. 1:10-11)

28. Ask for wisdom (1 Kgs. 3:9-10; Jas. 1:5-8)

29. Obey your parents (Col. 3:20)

30. Focus on eternal things above earthly things (2 Tim. 2:4)
